How do I schedule an appointment?
Please call (617-548-3310) or email us!
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No - Massachusetts allows clients to have direct access to physical therapists. We will refer you to other professionals (primary care, orthopedic, dietician) if necessary.
How do I pay for my session?
How many sessions will I have?
It depends! Clients are seen on an “as needed” basis. Some clients favor recurring weekly sessions, some prefer one session monthly, and others clients opt simply for a single consultation session. It ultimately depends on your needs and mobility goals. We encourage all aging adults to have an annual Movement Screen.
What is a Movement Screen?
A physical therapist will assess any concerns that you have related to movement and mobility, then evaluate your general mobility, strength, balance, coordination, gait, etc! This one hour session will provide you with a better understanding of how you can improve your mobility with a focus on preventative strategies to keep you moving all year long.
Why have a Movement Screen?
We have annual check-ups with our primary care physician, dermatologist, and dentist. Isn't movement important to you? For many folks, mobility is just as important as medical status, skin, and teeth! An annual movement screen is recommended to maintain mobility, and prevent functional decline as our bodies and environment change over time.
What do I need to prepare for our session?
Please wear comfortable clothes that allow you the freedom to move. You do not need any particular exercise equipment for our sessions. Living Fit travels with basic exercise equipment (bands, adjustable weights, exercise balls, etc.). If you do have exercise equipment at home, please have that available so we can make recommendations on proper use.
Why is Living Fit mobile?
We come to you…your home, work, or community. This helps us to help you. By seeing you in your environment, we can better address your needs. For example, if you’re having discomfort while gardening, we can go out into your garden and make recommendations on alternative positions and movement patterns. If you are a caregiver and it is difficult to leave home for your own appointments, we want to help you take care of yourself in your own environment. We want your appointments to be convenient and comfortable.
Does Living Fit accept commercial health insurance (ie. Blue Cross Blue Shields, Tufts)?
No - Our services are primarily wellness focused and therefore, are not considered “medically necessary”, as defined by the health insurance industry. If you are looking for traditional physical therapy services to address post-operative rehabilitation or basic functional activities (walking around the house, getting in/out of bed, toileting), we would be happy to refer you to another practice who works with health insurance. We are able to see commercial insurance beneficiaries for the full list of services on our Mobility Menu. It is entirely up to you, the consumer, whether you want to go through your insurance or pay privately. Please contact us and we will help you navigate whether Living Fit or the traditional physical therapy model is a better fit for you.
Does Living Fit accept Medicare?
No - Living Fit does not work with Medicare and due to federal regulations, we cannot see Medicare beneficiaries for “covered services”. Covered medicare services include treatment of new injuries, new onset pain, and functional mobility (i.e. walking around the house, getting in/out of bed, toileting, repetitive falls). Covered services should be addressed through your Medicare benefit, with a clinic that is contracted with Medicare. We are able and love to work with Medicare beneficiaries on wellness and preventative services (strength and balance exercises, fall prevention). If you are a medicare beneficiary looking for a physical therapist to help you with the covered services listed above, please reach out and we will direct you to a clinic who works with Medicare.
Where do we travel to?
